Biography
Aleksandra Mazurkiewicz was born in 1985 in Warsaw. In 2005 she graduated with flying colours from the Wojciech Gerson State Secondary School of Fine Arts. She studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw between 2006 and 2011 and defended her diploma thesis with distinction. In 2009, she was on a foreign scholarship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome. After graduating, she remained at her alma mater, where she still works as a lecturer in the art medal studio. Starting in 2022, she also teaches at the University of Siedlce in the Art Studio at the Faculty of Humanities. She took part in numerous artistic events in Poland and abroad. In 2014, via FIDEM (The International Art Medal Federation), she was awarded a Scholarship for Young Medal Makers, funded by the University of Bergen, In 2013, she was granted the Award of the President of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw for her commitment to teaching and her significant contribution to the development of the Academia. In 2021, she was awarded a Scholarship by the Minister of Culture, National Heritage and Sport. She has been a member of FIDEM since 2015. In 2022, she was awarded the Doctor’s Degree, and a year later, the Grand Prix in the National Art Contest. Since 2024 she has been a member of the Polish Art Medal Association. In 2024, she was awarded Best Exhibition in the competition ”Loneliness and Poetics” organised by London NAT Gallery, UK and in 2025 she was awarded Juror's choice Award in the contest Artist of the Year Award organised by Circle Foundation for the Arts, France. Her works have been presented at many exhibitions in Poland and abroad, including Belgium, Canada, Bulgaria, Japan, Spain, Italy and Great Britain. She lives and works in Warsaw.
